Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility safety, cleanliness, and compliance with SOPs.
  • Oversee exterior grounds and vendor performance for upkeep and safety.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention to minimize shrink and protect assets.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven decision making.
  • Coach and support department managers to execute organizational priorities.

Job Summary

The Regional Operations Manager serves as the operational liaison between Mission Advancement, Retail Stores, Outlet Operations, Recycling, Dell Reconnect, and Transportation to ensure the efficient movement of donated goods throughout the Goodwill value chain. This role is responsible for maximizing inventory flow, increasing revenue opportunities, supporting operational priorities, and maintaining a safe, clean, and standards-compliant regional operations center.

Working collaboratively with department leaders, the Regional Operations Manager identifies opportunities to improve productivity, streamline processes, reduce losses, and enhance the customer and donor experience while supporting Goodwill's mission of creating opportunities for individuals through the power of work.

Essential Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Operations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Retail, Outlet, Recycling, Dell Reconnect, and Transportation departments.
  • Coordinate daily operational priorities to ensure efficient movement of donated goods throughout the facility.
  • Assist department leaders in prioritizing projects, resolving operational challenges, and allocating resources effectively.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among departments to achieve regional operational goals.
  • Serve as the operational liaison to the Goodwill Career Connections Center located within the Regional Operations Center, ensuring the facility provides a safe, clean, welcoming, and professional environment for participants, staff, and community partners.
  • Coordinate with Career Connections leadership to support facility needs, special events, workforce development initiatives, and operational projects.
Inventory Flow & Revenue Optimization
  • Analyze inventory movement and identify opportunities to maximize product availability and revenue generation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve product flow from donation receipt through retail, outlet, recycling, and salvage channels.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and recommend process improvements that increase productivity and profitability.
  • Collaborate with leadership to reduce bottlenecks and improve overall operational efficiency.
Facility Management & Compliance
  • Ensure the regional operations facility is safe, clean, organized, and compliant with all Goodwill Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct routine inspections of operational areas, identifying and correcting safety or compliance concerns.
  • Ensure all departments maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and presentation.
  • Coordinate facility improvement projects and support preventive maintenance initiatives.
Exterior & Grounds Management
  • Ensure parking lots, donation areas, sidewalks, landscaping, and exterior grounds are maintained to Goodwill standards.
  • Monitor vendor performance related to landscaping, snow removal, waste management, and exterior maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for donors, shoppers, employees, and community partners.
Loss Prevention & Asset Protection
  • Partner closely with the Loss Prevention team to identify and reduce internal and external shrink.
  • Promote accountability and operational controls that protect donated goods and organizational assets.
  • Assist with investigations, audits, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support employee education and awareness regarding theft prevention and operational integrity.
Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate operational workflows and recommend innovative solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives utilizing data-driven decision making.
  • Support implementation of new technology, equipment, and operational processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with department managers and regional leadership.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and operational support to ensure consistent execution of organizational priorities.
  • Promote Goodwill's mission, values, and commitment to sustainability and community impact.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

Qualifications
  • Five or more years of progressive operations or distribution management experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in retail, logistics, warehouse, recycling, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
