Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) – Respiratory/COPD to build and maintain relationships with national and regional Scientific Leaders, ensuring access to company-approved medical information and engaging in peer-to-peer scientific discussions.

The role requires a doctoral-level degree (PhD/MD/PharmD/DNP/DO), 3+ years in COPD/Respiratory, strong stakeholder management, and willingness to travel up to 50% across the Chicago region (IL, WI, IA, MN, SD)

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years relevant therapeutic area experience beyond terminal degree (COPD/Respiratory).
• Strong stakeholder management/communication/networking; principled written/verbal communication.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions; scientific excellence and education/dialogue focus.
• Working knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and relevant pharma ethics/regulations.
• Organize/prioritize in changing environments; Microsoft Office Suite; virtual meeting familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with national/regional Scientific Leaders (SLs); ensure access to company-approved medical/scientific information.
• Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions; address scientific questions and route out-of-scope inquiries (e.g., grants) to appropriate resources.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the therapeutic area within company Areas of Interest.
• Research support (on request): align investigator/SL discussions with research strategy; support investigator-sponsored research comprehension; identify barriers to patient enrollment/retention.
• Clinical trial support (on request): recommend sites/investigators, conduct Site Initiation Visits, detect enrollment/retention barriers; serve as protocol lead with GCTO; answer investigator questions about company-sponsored studies.
• Support scientific congresses/meetings and facilitate scientific/data exchange (including competitor data).
• Gather insights from routine activities to inform medical/scientific needs and priorities.
