Job description

Purpose: Maintenance leaders ensure the safety of their assigned schools through regular maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and vehicles as requested by corporate and school management. They provide leadership to maintenance staff reporting to them. This role supports multiple states: Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.

Essential Duties:

  1. Perform repair and maintenance on assigned schools, ensuring compliance with government and licensing codes.
  2. Supervise and lead the maintenance team.
  3. Coordinate with school and corporate management to ensure timely completion of work.
  4. Promote teamwork among peers, subordinates, and management teams.
  5. Audit and report any observed repairs or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  6. Attend or lead meetings as requested.
  7. Assist in setting up new facilities and closing old facilities.
  8. Deliver and store supplies from the warehouse.
  9. Purchase maintenance supplies following company policies and procedures.
  10. Be available for emergencies, including weekends and evenings.
  11. Use computerized maintenance logs and email to document job completion and daily activities.
  12. Operate ethically and consistently within the mission and values of Children of America.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and ensure leadership objectives are met by aligning with company directives and communicating plans for special projects.
  14. Promote and communicate the company's mission and values to coworkers, customers, and the community.

Other Duties: Maintenance personnel perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Facilities Management and other corporate management.

Supervision: Work under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Facilities Management. May supervise other maintenance staff.

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years in related fields such as drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical; at least 3 years in management, foreman, or supervision roles.

Education: High school diploma (GED) required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred.

Other: Ability to use Outlook and document management & company expenses software. Travel to schools as assigned is required.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work on rooftops.

Mental Demands: Regular attendance, with hours possibly exceeding 40 per week.
