Job summary

The Maintenance Superintendent for SENY Transmission at New York Power Authority will oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance teams across underground cables, relay protection, oil-filled gear, and substation facilities in the SENY territory.

You will drive a zero-harm safety culture, develop human performance initiatives with EH&S, and collaborate with asset management to ensure risk profiles and plans are aligned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electric utility power plant operations or related industry.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating across multi-department or multi-site projects.
• Demonstrated experience developing a diverse, collaborative team.
• Minimum 3 years experience managing teams or projects; union experience preferred.
• P.E. license preferred.
• Up to 20% travel within NY State.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop employees including performance management, salary administration, succession planning and workload balancing.
• Support bargaining unit agreement implementation and labor relations.
• Develop short-, mid-, and long-term plans as part of the Regional Asset Management Plan.
• Conduct risk analysis and develop risk response plans.
• Initiate strategic improvement projects from the Regional Asset Management Plan.
• Evaluate project options using the UOPP process and assist with business case development.
• Support site capital and non-recurring O&M planning and execution.
• Provide leadership and collaboration for NYPA asset management.
• Lead use of Maximo, APM, DataSplice, GADS to improve asset performance.
• Promote Asset Management goals through training and communications.
• Enforce NYPA Asset Management policies and procedures.
• Improve cross-department communication and stakeholder relationships.
• Interface with WPO units and other departments.
• Provide status updates to senior management and adjust plans as needed.
• Plan for contingencies during weather/events and emergencies.
• Develop skills to fill in for Regional Manager.
