Description

Position Summary

The Regional Logistics Manager provides operational leadership across multiple NEFCO branches and/or fulfillment centers. This role is responsible for ensuring that site logistics leaders execute consistently against company standards for safety, service, productivity, inventory accuracy, labor management, facility discipline, and leadership accountability. The Regional Logistics Manager translates network strategy into site-level execution, develops local logistics leaders, identifies performance gaps, and drives corrective action while supporting growth and continuous improvement across the region.

The role is not intended to be the daily operating manager of a single warehouse. Its value comes from building capable site leaders, creating consistency across locations, removing barriers, and ensuring each operation can perform without routine senior-level intervention.

Core Outcomes
  • Safe, compliant, and well-maintained logistics operations across all assigned locations.
  • Consistent execution of receiving, inventory control, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, transfers, and related logistics processes.
  • Site leaders who understand their role, own their operation, and are held accountable for results.
  • Standard KPI visibility across locations, with clear actions when performance falls below expectation.
  • Appropriate staffing, leadership coverage, and organizational structure based on business volume and complexity.
  • Reduced operational variation through common processes, standard work, and disciplined use of SOPs.
  • Effective support of network growth, facility transitions, integrations, and major logistics initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Operational Leadership
  • Provide direct leadership and oversight to assigned Logistics Managers / FC Logistics Managers and other regional logistics leaders.
  • Establish clear priorities, expectations, and operating rhythms across the region.
  • Ensure each site has appropriate daily, weekly, and monthly management routines.
  • Visit locations regularly to assess execution, leadership effectiveness, facility condition, safety, labor utilization, and process adherence.
  • Escalate material operational risks and provide clear recovery plans when performance is off track.
Performance Management & KPIs
  • Own regional performance review across safety, service, productivity, quality, inventory, labor, and execution metrics.
  • Ensure site leaders understand results, root causes, and corrective actions rather than reporting metrics without action.
  • Use standardized scorecards and operating reviews to compare each site to its own targets, trends, and commitments.
  • Identify recurring performance issues and lead structured countermeasures with local leaders.
  • Support development of scalable staffing and leadership triggers based on volume, complexity, and scope.
People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Develop Logistics Managers and other site leaders through structured 1:1s, coaching, documented goals, and follow-up.
  • Set expectations for manager presence, reliability, communication, decision-making, and leadership behavior.
  • Build succession depth and identify high-potential leaders for expanded responsibility.
  • Partner with Human Resources on hiring, performance management, investigations, corrective action, and organizational changes.
  • Ensure site leaders are developing supervisors and leads rather than personally absorbing routine associate-level work.
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive common logistics standards across assigned locations while allowing justified local variation when required by business need.
  • Partner in development, rollout, and sustainment of SOPs and standard work.
  • Identify opportunities to improve slotting, replenishment, product flow, dock execution, location utilization, equipment use, and labor efficiency.
  • Support SKU, UOM, master-data, and assortment improvement efforts by clearly communicating operational impacts and requirements.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and disciplined execution.
Inventory & Facility Execution
  • Ensure site leadership maintains inventory accuracy, location discipline, replenishment health, and appropriate product flow.
  • Support regional inventory initiatives, transfers, cross-docks, offsite inventory reduction, and facility capacity planning.
  • Ensure damaged racks, unsafe conditions, building defects, and equipment issues are addressed rather than normalized.
  • Partner with Safety, Facilities, Procurement, Transportation, and other functions on issues that affect logistics execution.
Growth, Integrations & Major Projects
  • Support new facility launches, relocations, acquisitions, integrations, and major network changes.
  • Help define operational requirements, staffing plans, cutover assumptions, training needs, and execution milestones.
  • Ensure local teams are prepared for growth and that regional capacity constraints are surfaced early.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Transportation, Purchasing/Procurement, Finance, HR, IT/ERP, and Data teams to support scalable growth.
Decision Rights / Expected Ownership
  • Set regional logistics priorities within the direction established by the Sr. Director of Logistics.
  • Hold site logistics leaders accountable for schedule, staffing, execution, facility standards, and performance commitments.
  • Recommend organizational, staffing, leadership, and process changes based on business need.
  • Require recovery plans when site performance, safety, service, or leadership execution falls below standard.
  • Escalate cross-functional barriers that cannot be resolved at the regional level.
  • Support but do not bypass site leaders in routine daily management; accountability should remain at the appropriate level.
Typical Measures of Success
  • Safety performance and closure of identified hazards.
  • On-time service / shipment execution.
  • Picking, receiving, putaway, and shipping productivity.
  • Warehouse error rate / quality performance.
  • Inventory accuracy, can’t-find reduction, and replenishment health.
  • Labor plan adherence, overtime management, attendance, and leadership coverage.
  • Facility condition and operational readiness.
  • Completion and effectiveness of leadership 1:1s, development actions, and performance plans.
  • Execution of regional projects, standardization, and continuous-improvement commitments.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-site distribution, warehouse, fulfillment, or logistics operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of receiving, inventory control, warehousing, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and labor management.
  • Experience leading and developing managers and supervisors.
  • Ability to use operational data and KPIs to identify issues, set priorities, and drive action.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Comfort operating in a growing environment where processes, systems, and organizational structures continue to mature.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant operational leadership experience preferred.
Leadership Expectations
  • Lead through managers rather than becoming the manager of every daily problem
  • Create clarity around ownership, expectations, and follow-through.
  • Be visible in the operation and willing to challenge poor standards respectfully and directly.
  • Balance urgency with sustainable process and disciplined execution.
  • Build capability in the team so the region becomes less dependent on individual heroics.
  • Operate as one NEFCO and partner effectively across functions and regions.
