Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Regional Coordinator Language Services to lead interpretation and translation across MercyOne facilities. This role focuses on equitable communication for LEP, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, and culturally responsive care.

The position requires residing in Iowa with regular travel to MercyOne hospitals, clinics, and other locations within the footprint. A Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in language services are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in language services, patient experience, or related field.
• Completion of Iowa DHHS Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Experience with VRI, telephonic interpretation platforms, and EHR systems such as Epic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees regional language services across MercyOne facilities to ensure equitable access.
• Coordinates interpreter scheduling and vendor relationships for coverage and efficiency across facilities.
• Develops standardized workflows, including automation and process improvements for language services.
• Ensures compliance with Title VI, 1557, CLAS standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Leads corrective action planning for compliance gaps and patient concerns.
• Collaborates with clinical and operational teams to improve communication equity and patient outcomes.
• Trains staff on interpreter services and competency best practices.
• Tracks KPIs, generates reports, and presents metrics to leadership.
