Mercy Medical Center seeks a speech-language pathologist to provide comprehensive speech, language and swallowing services within Mercy Home Care. The role emphasizes high-quality patient-centered care, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and thorough documentation in the patient record.
Required licensure in Iowa (or eligibility for licensure) and current BLS certification. The incumbent will supervise students as needed and adhere to Mercy safety guidelines while promoting
Work Shift Day Scheduled Weekly Hours 0. This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by providing high quality and up to date diagnosis, remediation, and consultative services to those patients demonstrating changes in their speech, language or swallow functions. These services will be given in a manner to help patients return to the highest level of function within their abilities.
Demonstrate ability to function without close supervision. Demonstrate good written and verbal skills. Demonstrate ability to perform duties in a variety of settings sometimes with little advance notice. Knowledge of computers and medical terminology required.
One year of experience preferred.
Education sufficient to obtain required licensure.
Iowa state licensure or temporary licensure is required at time of hire. If hired with temporary licensure, permanent Iowa licensure must be obtained within a time frame commensurate with FTE status (12 months for 1.0 FTE, 18 months for 0.5 FTE, etc.), not to exceed 24 months. Current certification in Basic Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association required. Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.
Mercy Home Care - Current and valid driver's license, own transportation and automobile insurance required.
