Continental Electrical Construction Company seeks an Area HSE Manager to provide leadership and strategic oversight for health, safety, and environmental programs across multiple construction projects in the Chicagoland area. You will partner with operations and project management to ensure compliance and drive a proactive safety culture.

This role supports diverse projects, conducts audits, leads investigations, and mentors site teams while coordinating environmental compliance and performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a safety, environmental, engineering or construction field is required.
• 10+ years of progressive HSE experience in construction or related industries.
• 5+ years leading HSE programs across multiple projects or locations.
• Experience with mission critical/data centers, healthcare, commercial, renewable energy or high-risk environments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, EPA regulations and industry best practices.
• Proficiency with MS Office and HSE reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide HSE leadership across multiple active construction projects in the region.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and field leadership to integrate safety into all phases.
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety observations to identify risks.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
• Review JHAs, AHAs, Pre-Task Plans, and Safe Work Plans.
• Support subcontractor safety management and maintain client relationships.
• Analyze safety performance data and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach Project HSE Managers and craft employees on expectations and best practices.
• Support environmental programs including stormwater, hazardous waste, and battery storage compliance.
• Prepare HSE reports, dashboards, and documentation for leadership and clients.
