Job Description

Chubb is looking for a leader who wants a role where they can make a difference. The Regional Head of House Counsel is a strategically important role in the North America Claims organization and reports directly to the Chief Technical Officer, North America Claims. The candidate will co-manage and direct House Counsel operations for 18 offices and approximately 200 employees across nine states and Canada. This responsibility includes developing and executing a strategic plan to maximize the value of the House Counsel team to the company.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Co-manage all aspects of the House Counsel function across all offices and jurisdictions, including administrative, operational, financial/budgetary, personnel, and performance management.
  2. Develop and execute a strategic plan to measure, monitor, and increase the performance and value of the House Counsel function, coordinating closely with North America Claims leadership to identify value-enhancing activities.
  3. Establish and maintain a data-driven management culture to identify and promote activities aligned with a top-tier House Counsel function.
  4. Perform peer analyses and identify benchmarking metrics for evolving a high-value House Counsel function.
  5. Implement and oversee audit and quality control processes.
  6. Drive, develop, and maintain high standards for all House Counsel colleagues, aligned with Chubb Claims Culture Principles of Teamwork, Value, and Execution.
  7. Establish and maintain oral and written reporting to senior claims and business management as required.
Qualifications
  1. Undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign university or college.
  2. J.D. degree.
  3. Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
Required Experience
  1. Minimum of 15 years legal experience at a law firm or house counsel operation in property and casualty insurance, or 15 years claims litigation and management in casualty or financial lines claims.
  2. Experience managing a large, geographically dispersed, multi-layered organization.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.
  4. Working knowledge of data and financial reporting and analysis.

The pay range for this role is $245,000 to $275,000, depending on skills and other factors. The role may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program.
