Job summary

John Zink is hiring a Field Service Technician to support refining and petrochemical customers across the Mountain West and Southwest region. You will commission, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial combustion, electrical, and control systems, acting as the technical expert in the field.

The role requires 75%+ regional travel and occasional national travel, with a home base in Albuquerque, NM; Salt Lake City, UT; Denver, CO; or Amarillo, TX.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience modifying, diagnosing, and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems (Allen Bradley, GE).
• Knowledge and application of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and fabrication drawings.
• Willingness to travel 75%+ within the region.
• Ability to obtain TWIC within six weeks of employment.
• Valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Travel from home base to customer sites for preventive maintenance and commissioning.
• Support electrical, mechanical, and control systems including PLCs, VFDs, motors, pumps, valves, actuators.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues in live environments.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and safety practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support urgent needs.
• Build strong customer relationships through professional communication.
