Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp in Ohio is seeking a Facility Operations professional to coordinate planning, monitoring, and execution of facility projects across the region. The role involves multi-phase project management from budgeting and scheduling to commissioning and close-out, ensuring safety and compliance throughout.

The position supports budgeting for O&M and capital projects, provides coaching to team members, and maintains strong relationships with occupants and leadership.

Qualifications

• A 2 or 4-year degree in Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or a closely related degree along with 2 to 4 years of professional work experience is required.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of direct, related experience is required.
• A solid understanding of documenting processes and procedures.
• Strong computer application skills: such as Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, and proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
• Highly driven, self-motivated worker that is organized, task oriented with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to ask detailed questions.
• Experience in process/project development, planning/analysis, and performance reporting.
• Ability to adapt communication skills to all audiences.
• Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and projects.
• Excellent analytical abilities.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating a strong commitment to all aspects of safety.
• Coordinating the design, construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of company facilities, and including substation facilities where required, through the utilization of internal resources, contractors, or contracted services.
• Providing expertise, mentoring, and coaching for team members to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Actively participating in, promoting, and working safely to advance FirstEnergy's Leading with Safety. This includes communicating and ensuring compliance with the Contractor Safety Guidelines.
• Coordinating the activity of FirstEnergy's personnel and contractors in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings and facilities while setting priorities to ensure cost effective and safe completion of work (including new construction, expansion, renovation, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and break-down maintenance).
• Creating and modifying specifications and managing contracts to construct, operate and maintain buildings/facilities. Ensuring work is completed to specification and accurately billed.
• Providing support to the Supervisor, Facility Operations with respect to major projects, move requests, maintenance, and planning.
• Coordinating with the Environmental group to ensure facilities meet all aspects of environmental compliance.
• Provide support to the Supervisor, Facility Operations with the Facilities Capital and O&M budgets.
• Identifying and participating in the analysis of cost savings and efficiency opportunities related to facility processes, procedures, and costs.
• Building and fostering strong communication and relationships with facility occupants and leadership.
• Assessing the condition of all facilities, identifying capital and O&M projects required for the next ten years.
• Employing knowledge of operations to provide a forward-looking perspective that focuses on opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
• Traveling to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner; Working outside regular business hours, as required.
• An employee hired at the III and IV levels will be expected to perform all the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner.
