Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Facility Operations Specialist to coordinate multi-phase projects across the region. You will manage design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and substation facilities, while ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

The role includes budgeting support and collaboration with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate has an engineering- or related-degree background and strong MS Office skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

• A 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or related field, or 5+ years of direct related experience.
• Strong documentation of processes and procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office apps (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Highly driven, organized, and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience in process/project development, planning/analysis, and performance reporting.
• Ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences and work under pressure.
• Strong analytical abilities and ability to build effective relationships.
• Experience working with facilities, capital and O&M budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design, construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of company facilities.
• Guide safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
• Mentor team members to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Promote a safety-first work culture and ensure environmental compliance.
• Prioritize tasks with internal resources and contractors for cost-effective work.
• Develop and modify specifications; manage contracts for facilities projects.
• Support budgeting, move requests, maintenance planning, and major projects.
• Analyze cost savings and efficiency opportunities in facility processes.
