Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Generation Development Specialist in Akron, OH to support strategy, planning, and execution of major generation projects. You will work with engineers and business analysts to manage budgets, schedules, and external partnerships.

The role emphasizes risk identification, internal reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure projects are on time and on budget while meeting regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or 7+ years related experience in lieu of degree) in a relevant field.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills; proactive in identifying challenges and recommending solutions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to produce clear reports for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of SAP, Power BI, Primavera/P6, and risk/PM tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale power generation projects.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring milestones are met and budgets are controlled.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies with stakeholders.
  • Track performance metrics and report on cost and schedule.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (FERC, NERC, state requirements).
  • Assist with permitting, interconnection processes, and grid interconnections.
  • Collaborate across finance, operations, external affairs, and partners to align goals.
  • Perform audits to identify gaps in tools or processes.
