Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to manage and administer the estimating function across regions, coordinating with project managers and design leads to ensure cost-effective, constructible proposals.

You will maintain cost databases, review bid packages, and negotiate subcontractor pricing while upholding corporate estimating policies and standards. Domestic/international travel may be required.

• Knowledge of how corporate objectives impact estimating and construction contracts.
• Advanced estimating techniques and cost control.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications and identify missing elements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer estimating functions for budgets, staffing, and work assignments.
• Implement estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Assist in procurement by negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders with project managers.
• Supervise preparation of market cost studies and methods; update cost database.
• Provide cost-related recommendations to region leadership and strategize resources for proposals.
• Coordinate with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability in proposals.
• Ensure standardized use of estimating systems and maintain historical bid data.
• Review final estimates and proposals for accuracy and completeness.
• Contact subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Perform additional duties as required.
