Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking an experienced Emergency Planning Coordinator to develop and coordinate county-wide emergency planning activities with county departments, private industry, educational institutions, governmental agencies, and community partners.

You will implement emergency management goals, maintain records, compile documentation, and generate reports while reviewing plans for compliance with regulations. The role includes on-call EOC duties and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or four years of related experience in public administration, urban planning, or emergency management.
• Five years of specialized experience in research, planning, public information, program administration, or resource management preferred.
• Ability to use a wide range of software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills; ability to work during emergencies beyond normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Develops, coordinates, facilitates, and organizes county-wide emergency planning activities with diverse partners.
• Implement emergency management goals through tasks like maintaining records and generating reports.
• Review plans for compliance with guidance and regulations.
• Maintain proficiency through training and exercises.
• Serve as on-call EOC Duty Officer during 24-hour shifts and be available for emergencies.
