Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator to manage and lead estimating functions across regions. You will work with project managers to negotiate procurement, develop cost studies, and refine databases for accurate bids.

The role requires 10 years of related experience with 3+ in supervisory capacity, and 20–40% travel. Domestic and international travel may be needed, with a strong emphasis on cost control and effective communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 10 years of related experience with at least 3 years in supervisory/management roles.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers estimating functions in assigned region, including operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in assigned region to meet corporate objectives.
• Negotiates purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement with project managers.
• Supervises preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends changes to the database.
• Reviews project details with region leadership and determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Coordinates with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use and maintenance of the estimating system and cost database.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours across estimate types and bid results.
• Reviews final estimates and proposal packages for accuracy and completeness.
