Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking a seasoned Estimator to oversee regional estimating activities, budgets, and staffing. You will collaborate with project managers to negotiate POs and change orders, lead cost studies, and maintain the estimating database for multiple trades.

The role requires strong knowledge of estimating techniques, ability to review complex proposals, and travel 20-40% as needed. A high school diploma with extensive experience is acceptable for consideration.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 in supervisory/management roles.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalents and related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and providing recommendations, and collaboratively determining strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems, maintenance and enhancements of the cost database estimating system.
• Maintains all historical data for estimating man-hours for various types of estimates and bid results by project.
• Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Performs additional duties as required.
