Job summary

Ocean Spray is hiring an Regional EHS Specialist to ensure environmental, health and safety compliance across receiving plants. The role develops and implements policies, procedures and training to minimize risk, prevent accidents and maintain regulatory compliance.

It also supports incident investigations and emergency response. Key duties include conducting audits, coordinating improvement plans, delivering safety training, and participating in safety committees.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in EHS or related area.
  • Experience as a trainer.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and regulations.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers at all levels.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during long shifts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Support the EHS function to ensure compliance with corporate, plant and regulatory expectations.
  • Identify, coordinate and implement safety and environmental improvement plans.
  • Develop and deliver environmental and safety training both in person and electronically.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled safety committee meetings.
  • Observe work practices and coach safe work practices with employees and supervisors.
  • Perform Job Safety Analyses, PPE assessments and make improvement recommendations.
  • Conduct regular facility environmental, health and safety audits and competency testing.
  • Oversee inspection, maintenance and upkeep of safety equipment.
  • Develop and communicate weekly safety toolbox talks.
  • Maintain and oversee the Shock Watch system.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Ag Operations teams on safety incidents and investigations.

Ocean Spray is hiring for a(n) Regional EHS Specialist! We're a team of farmers, thinkers, creators, and doers. The EHS Specialist will ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment at our receiving plants. You will implement policies, procedures, and training programs to minimize risks, prevent accidents, and maintain regulatory compliance. Conducting regular inspections and audits, you will identify hazards and potential risks, and implement corrective measures to mitigate them. You will also collaborate with Ag Operations teams to improve EHS programs, provide guidance on safety protocols, and support incident investigations and emergency response efforts.

A Day in the Life...
  • The EHS Specialist will work to support the EHS function in compliance to corporate, plant and regulatory expectations.

  • Observe work practices and interact/coach safe work practices with employees and supervisors
  • Perform Job Safety Analyses, PPE assessments and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform regular facility environmental, health and safety audits and employee competency testing.
  • Oversee inspection, maintenance and upkeep of safety equipment (fall protection, respiratory protection, confined space entry etc.).
  • Develop and communicate weekly safety toolbox talks.
  • Maintain and oversee the Shock Watch system.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Work with supervisors and other appropriate leaders on safety incidents.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Associate's Degree or professional experience and/or technical school and certifications in environmental, occupational safety or related area preferred
  • The incumbent needs a diversified background in leading others either directly or indirectly
  • Experience as a trainer
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and regulations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers at all levels
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during the eight or twelve hour shift
  • Year-round position with heavy emphasis during harvest months (late August-early November), at which time the facilities will run 24/7 and may have limited days off
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work constructively in team environment
  • Experience with computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
