Job summary

Busey seeks a Regional Credit Officer to oversee commercial underwriting and portfolio management for designated markets in Naperville, IL. Lead a team of credit professionals, ensure timely underwriting, and manage credit risk across the portfolio.

You will review loan grades, support loan structuring, and collaborate with Relationship Managers to drive new opportunities while maintaining policy compliance. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance required.
• 10+ years of Commercial Credit experience with prior single signature approval authority.
• 5+ years in a progressive management/leadership role.
• 5+ years of middle market loan relationships $10–$100 million.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Commercial Credit Officers, Commercial Underwriters and Credit Analysts, including hiring and development.
• Ensure timely underwriting through team communication and alignment with leadership.
• Assess risk using cash flow, liquidity, profitability, and leverage data.
• Review loan grades to align with policy definitions.
• Support Portfolio Management through covenant reviews and monitoring reports.
• Prepare and review opportunity memos for loan structuring and credit covenants.
• Maintain knowledge of the Commercial Banking Loan Policy and lending platform.
• Assist in the sales process with Relationship Managers on calls.
• Approve loans within authority; recommend higher-amount loans for approval.
• Participate in pipeline meetings and discuss opportunities and renewals.
• Communicate with Senior RCO about personnel, pipeline, and credit migration.
• Serve as SME on C&I borrowers for Northern Illinois.
• Assist with other duties or special projects.
