Job summary

Canteen, a division of Compass Group USA, seeks an Assistant Regional Controller to support monthly close, forecast, and budgets across regions. You will prepare financial statements and foster strong cross-functional relationships with management.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting/forecasting experience, and proficiency in Excel/SAP. Travel up to 20% is expected as you partner with regional operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of five years of accounting/finance experience in the retail industry.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive results.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively partner with operations and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the oversight of monthly P&L and balance sheet activity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies.
• Direct the review of general ledger and balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving reconciliation issues in a timely manner.
• Oversee the reconciliation and analysis of key ledger accounts, including accounts receivable, cashless transactions, inventory, and commissions.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance and financial integrity.
• Drive the preparation of financial reporting, including flash reports, forecasts, and budgets.
• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 5–6 direct reports, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture.
• Partner closely with the RVP and operations leadership to support financial performance and operational decision-making.
