Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Regional Controller in Phoenix, AZ. This private equity-backed role offers a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) with a base salary of $130,000-$145,000 plus bonus, depending on experience.

You will lead the regional accounting function, partner with executives on budgeting and financial planning, and drive process improvements to scale the business. A bachelor's in accounting/finance and 5+ years of leadership in similar settings are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Knowledge of project accounting concepts, including revenue recognition, job costing, WIP, and percent-of-completion.
• Experience with ERP/financial reporting systems; Sage Intacct or similar preferred.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across accounting, finance, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead key accounting and financial reporting activities for the region, ensuring month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and business performance insights.
• Collaborate with project and operational teams to monitor project performance, revenue recognition, profitability, and overall financial health.
• Oversee audit support, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and accounting processes to reduce risk.
• Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and scalable accounting practices that support continued organizational growth.
• Work cross-functionally with finance, operations, project management, and other business partners on special projects and strategic initiatives.

$130,000-$145,000 base salary + bonus (depending on experience)

Responsibilities:

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Required)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, preferably within construction, project-based, multi-entity, or similar operational environments.
• Strong understanding of project accounting concepts, including revenue recognition, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems; Sage Intacct or similar platforms (Preferred)
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively partner across accounting, finance, and operations teams.
