Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an experienced tax professional for a boutique CPA firm in San Diego. You will handle tax compliance and strategic advisory for business owners and high-net-worth individuals, managing engagements from planning through filing.

You will build client relationships, research complex tax matters, and mentor junior staff while helping the practice grow through proactive planning and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• 8+ years of public accounting tax experience.
• Experience with individual, partnership, S-corporation, and corporate tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of complex tax matters and multi-state filings.
• Ability to independently manage client relationships and engagements.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Overview

A boutique CPA firm is seeking an experienced tax professional to join its growing practice. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with business owners and high-net-worth individuals, providing both tax compliance and strategic advisory services.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax expertise, a client-service mindset, and the ability to independently manage complex engagements while contributing to the growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of individual and business tax clients from planning through filing
• Prepare and review federal and multi-state tax returns
• Advise clients on tax planning, business transactions, and wealth preservation strategies
• Research technical tax matters and develop practical solutions
• Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive recommendations
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through consultative service
• Support process improvements, technology initiatives, and operational efficiencies
• Mentor and develop junior team members

Minimum Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
