Job summary

Messer Construction Co. is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager for the Charlotte, NC region. You will lead safety planning across projects, conduct inspections, develop training, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field and 10+ years of leadership in construction, with strong communication skills. This is an employee-owned company committed to safety and excellence in client experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; EHS concentration preferred.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in the construction industry.
• Technical working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
• Advanced experience in employee safety training.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand project schedule for risk planning.
• Develop & manage relationships at all levels including projects/craft, regional leadership, safety peers and corporate.
• Develop action plans for regional safety performance.
• Maintain a consistent project presence with timely responses to questions or issues.
• Oversee job site safety planning, including pre-construction safety meetings, contractor safety orientations, weekly site inspections and incident investigations.
• Develop and implement safety programs and training; ensure policy consistency across regions.
• Review contractor prequalifications and site safety plans for conformance with regulations.
• Assist in policy development and updates; ensure emergency response systems are in place.
