Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Regional Compliance Manager to drive compliance programs and strategies for corporate and field offices. The role requires on-site presence at least three days a week at the ATL gateway and ongoing interaction with US Customs.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years interpreting and applying US import/export regulations, with a background in dangerous goods and regulatory training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience interpreting, applying and training on US import/export regulations.
  • Brokers license or CCS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly and weekly compliance reporting.
  • Assist training programs to ensure employees are compliant with inbonds, dangerous goods, and exports requirements.
  • Tracks, monitors, and documents compliance related to inbonds, dangerous goods, and export.
  • Perform audits to test compliance with internal policies, standards, procedures, and facilitate corrective actions in areas of non-compliance.
  • Respond to compliance questions from stations and customers.
  • Meet with US Customs at the port on a monthly basis.
  • Develop a relationship with local government agencies.

Job description

Job Title: Regional Compliance Manager

Job Location: College Park, GA


We have exciting opportunities for Regional Compliance Manager to assist with compliance programs and strategies for DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) corporate and field offices. These six key roles will report directly to the U.S. Head of Trade and Dangerous Goods Compliance. Positions will be located at the DFG USA gateways located at ATL. The individual needs to be on-sire at least three days a week to review activity in the warehouse and the office.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist with monthly and weekly compliance reporting

  • Assist training programs to ensure employees are compliant with inbonds, dangerous goods, and exports requirement related to transit and US export material

  • Tracks, monitors, and document compliance related to inbonds, dangerous goods, and export

  • Perform audits to test compliance with internal policies, standards, procedures , and facilitates corrective actions in areas of non-compliance

  • Responding to compliance questions from stations and customers

  • Meet with US Customs at the port on a monthly basis

  • Develop a relationship with local government agencies


Skills / Requirements


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline or work equivalent of 7 years minimum

  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience interpreting, applying and training others on the requirements of the US import or export regulations

  • Brokers license or NCBFAA CCS certification is preferred

  • Knowledge of air freight and ocean freight operations preferred

  • Knowledge of inbond regulatory requirements and general understanding of import procedures

  • Understanding of export regulatory requirements

  • Dangerous goods training preferred, or willingness to get certified after being hired

  • Demonstrated record of achievement in achieving targets and objectives

  • Critical thinking, creativity, and innovation in developing new concepts, theories, and products to address the most complex and strategic issues facing DGF

  • Strong ability to negotiate the highest level and/or riskiest technical or business issues on behalf of the company

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills

  • Strong project and time management skills, including ability to direct multiple projects simultaneously

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to enforce required steps against rejections with strong leadership skills
