Job summary

Ducks Unlimited is seeking a Regional Communications Coordinator for the Great Plains Region based in Bismarck, ND. The role supports conservation storytelling across seven states, coordinating press materials, reports, and presentations for diverse field teams.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in communications, strong writing and diplomacy, and willingness to travel. Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred; drone licensing is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling with portfolio samples.
• Ability to manage multiple projects across a large geographic region.
• Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; design tools familiarity (Adobe Creative Suite) preferred.
• Photography experience with samples.
• Drone license (Section 107) preferred.
• Willingness to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a communications resource for multiple divisions: Develop and deliver press releases, DU magazine articles, project information sheets, story maps, PowerPoint presentations, speeches, quarterly newsletters and other materials for dozens of team members across 7 states.
• Track and prioritize tasks: Maintain a detailed, ranked list of projects in progress and completed to demonstrate workload and ensure transparency.
• Engage with field projects: Travel to project sites regularly, ensuring impactful storytelling across the Prairie Pothole region.
• Provide regular updates to leadership: Communicate with the GPR leadership team regularly and distribute a weekly communications report to all GPR staff.
• Anticipate challenges and manage expectations: Identify potential issues early and keep your direct supervisor informed.
