Department Details: Must reside in Iowa or an adjacent state. Position requires 50% travel within the state of Iowa.
Summary: Directs nursing and clinical leadership in partnership with the region's executive leadership. Provides clinical leadership, consultation, and access to clinical resources for direct patient/resident care departments within each network facility. Responsible for providing professional, technical, clinical expertise to individual network facilities, field locations, or agencies, depending on the department, as well as within network administration. Manages multiple states and must navigate various regulatory requirements related to Long Term and Post-Acute Care.
Job Description: Leads and coordinates the implementation of strategic nursing plan initiatives across rural or field locations. Mentors and orients new nursing leaders; advises, counsels, and connects them to resources. Acts as a key driver of clinical operational change. Demonstrates experience in nursing leadership in rural or field settings. Collaborates with executive leadership to establish clinical practice standards and provides leadership on nursing policies, procedures, and care delivery models. Communicates effectively to advocate for nursing leadership needs and supports system change initiatives. Provides leadership to clinical services leaders of other care departments and professional networking peer groups. Participates in policy creation and revision, ensuring clinical practices are standardized and research-based. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding clinical services in skilled nursing facilities. Keeps current on health and safety laws and regulations, working with support services as needed.
Qualifications: A Master's or Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related healthcare field is preferred but not required. Graduation from a accredited nursing program (e.g., CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA) is preferred. Requires at least 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in long-term or post-acute care. Previous experience as a Director of Nursing in long-term care is preferred. Must hold an unencumbered RN license in the state where practicing, or multistate licensure if in an NLC state. Must maintain required competencies and certifications. Nurses practicing over the phone must be licensed in the states where patients reside.
