Job summary

MercyOne in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Regional Clinical Educator to oversee the clinical staff of all MercyOne ground ambulances, delivering safe, evidence-based care. The role leads clinical staff across regional locations and participates in MercyOne’s outreach programs.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed paramedic or registered nurse.
• Paramedic: IA PM license and CCP endorsement required; cross-state license within 120 days.
• RN: BSN and current Iowa or Illinois RN license; cross-state license within 120 days.
• Master’s Degree preferred for Paramedic path; relevant leadership certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the quality assurance program is implemented and maintained.
• Oversee all clinical staff for ground ambulance programs across the state.
• Coordinate with base Educators on formal Emergency Transport Services education.
• Participate in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
• Assist with onboarding of new employees with local base leadership.
• Lead clinical advancement of the program and track progress.
• Evaluate performance of clinical staff across regions and provide feedback.
• Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor for staff.
• Collaborate with Medical Directors to review and update Patient Care Guidelines and Policies.

The focus of the Regional Clinical Educator is to provide oversight of the clinical staff of all ground ambulances associated with MercyOne to deliver safe, evidence-based care. The Regional Clinical Educator will provide critical care knowledge and skills to lead the clinical staff of the program. The Regional Clinical Educator will be a clinical leader for all regional team locations. The Regional Clinical Educator will be an active participant in MercyOne’s outreach program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for the quality assurance program.
• Oversight of all clinical staff for the ground ambulance programs across the state.
• Coordinates with the local base Educators on formal education for the Emergency Transport Services Division based on industry trends and evaluation of quality data.
• Participates with the Director, Manager’s and Educators in the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of all staff.
• Works with the local base leadership to facilitate the on-boarding process of new employees.
• Responsible for the clinical advancement of the program
• Coordinates with the base Educator to assesses and evaluates the performance of the clinical staff of all regions.
• Serves as a clinical resource and a preceptor for all clinical staff.
• Coordinates with Medical Directors to review, write, and edit Patient Care Guidelines and Policy and Procedures based on evidence-based material.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse required.
• Paramedic: Bachelor degree Master’s Degree preferred. Current certification as a Paramedic (PM) in the State of Iowa.(MercyOneGenesis–currentParamedic (PM)license in either Iowa or Illinois isrequiredat the time ofhire. A secondaryPMlicense for the other state must be obtained within120 daysof the hire or transferdate.) Iowa Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) Endorsement.
• Registered Nurse: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.(MercyOneGenesis–currentRegistered Nurse (RN)license in either Iowa or Illinois isrequiredat the time of hire.
