Job summary

IHA in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Regional Clinical Educator (Licensed Paramedic or RN) to oversee the clinical staff of all ground ambulances and to deliver safe, evidence-based care across regional locations.

The role provides critical care knowledge, leads the clinical team, partners with base Educators for education programs, participates in hiring and onboarding, and collaborates with Medical Directors to update Patient Care Guidelines and Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse required.
  • Paramedic: Bachelor or Master’s preferred; PM license in IA/IL.
  • RN: BSN and RN license in IA or IL.
  • Iowa Critical Care Paramedic endorsement.
  • Ability to lead clinical staff across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality assurance program for regional clinical staff.
  • Coordinate education with base Educators on EMS training.
  • Participate in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating staff.
  • Facilitate onboarding of new employees across regions.
  • Responsible for clinical advancement of the program.
  • Assess and evaluate performance of regional clinical staff.
  • Serve as clinical resource and preceptor for staff.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors to update guidelines and procedures.

Description

Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse required: The focus of the Regional Clinical Educator is to provide oversight of the clinical staff of all ground ambulances associated with MercyOne to deliver safe, evidence-based care. The Regional Clinical Educator will provide critical care knowledge and skills to lead the clinical staff of the program. The Regional Clinical Educator will be a clinical leader for all regional team locations. The Regional Clinical Educator will be an active participant in MercyOne’s outreach program.



Essential Functions


  • Responsible for the quality assurance program.

  • Oversight of all clinical staff for the ground ambulance programs across the state.

  • Coordinates with the local base Educators on formal education for the Emergency Transport Services Division based on industry trends and evaluation of quality data.

  • Participates with the Director, Manager’s and Educators in the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of all staff.

  • Works with the local base leadership to facilitate the on-boarding process of new employees.

  • Responsible for the clinical advancement of the program

  • Coordinates with the base Educator to assesses and evaluates the performance of the clinical staff of all regions.

  • Serves as a clinical resource and a preceptor for all clinical staff.

  • Coordinates with Medical Directors to review, write, and edit Patient Care Guidelines and Policy and Procedures based on evidence-based material.



Minimum Requirements


  • Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse required.

  • Paramedic: Bachelor degree Master’s Degree preferred. Current certification as a Paramedic (PM) in the State of Iowa. (MercyOneGenesis – current Paramedic (PM) license in either Iowa or Illinois isrequiredat the time of hire. A secondary PM license for the other state must be obtained within 120 days of the hire or transfer date.) Iowa Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) Endorsement.

  • Registered Nurse: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa. (MercyOneGenesis – current Registered Nurse (RN) license in either Iowa or Illinois isrequiredat the time of hire. A secondary RN license for the other state must be obtained within 120 days of the hire or transfer date.)
