Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo is seeking a Paramedic to join our emergency care team. You will perform initial and ongoing observations, gather data, and assist in developing outcome-driven plans of care.

Under supervision of a registered nurse or ED providers, you monitor patient responses and communicate relevant clinical information to the team to optimize outcomes. We offer competitive compensation and full benefits, with 80 hours biweekly and night shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year ambulance or emergency room experience preferred.
• Current Iowa EMT-P or CCP certification.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS; PHTLS highly recommended.
• Mandatory Reporter and NVCI within 6 months of hire.

A Paramedic at MercyOne, through evidence-based practice, under the supervision of a registered nurse or ED providers, provides outcome/goal-based nursing care for patients and assists the Registered Nurse in monitoring, observing and reporting patient response to interventions. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

• Full-Time/ 80 Hours Biweekly / Night Shift

General Requirements

• Minimum of 1-year ambulance or emergency room experience preferred.
• Current certified Iowa EMT-PM or CCP
• BLS provider
• ACLS
• PALS
• PHTLS highly recommended.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.

Education

• Graduate of a Iowa Paramedic Specialist Course or National Paramedic Course.
