MercyOne DSM Ambulance is seeking a Paramedic to assess patients, provide advanced care during transport, and document interventions. This full-time role features a 12-hour day shift and a 72-hour biweekly schedule.
Candidates must hold an Iowa Paramedic license, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and meet Mercy’s safety standards, including a valid driver's license. Training in EVOC and mandatory reporter requirements is expected within specified timelines.

Full‑Time (72 Hours Biweekly)
12 Hour Day Shift
Assess patients with a variety of medical conditions or injuries.
Prepares patient care reports with 24 hours of completing the ambulance trip.
Triages, prioritizes, and anticipates patients’ needs. Develops a plan of care.
Provides ongoing evaluation, altering the plan of care as indicated. Documents findings and interventions.
Implements interventions consistent with protocols documenting response to treatment.
High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.
Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Iowa required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. The acceptable credentialing body for this requirement is the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. The acceptable credentialing body for this requirement is the American Heart Association.
Proof of completion of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training required within three (3) months of hire
Valid drivers required. Must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, be at least 18 years of age, and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
Emergency Vehicle Operations training within six (6) months of hire.
