Job summary

iHeartMedia in Los Angeles seeks a broadcast engineering technician to design, configure, deploy and maintain electronic equipment for optimum transmission and reliability. You will assist technicians, test components, and perform preventive maintenance on RF gear, audio storage and automation systems.

The role requires climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and on-call 24/7 availability. Preferred candidates have 2 years of electronics schooling or military training, plus 4 years in broadcast

Qualifications

  • 2 years technical school or military training in electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years' experience in broadcast operations; SBE certification or FCC General Class license preferred.
  • Willingness to climb ladders, work in small spaces and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, deploy and maintain electronic equipment for optimum transmission and broadcast performance with scalability, performance and reliability.
  • Assist clients, technicians and service personnel in installation, training and support of software, hardware, and 3rd party peripherals.
  • Test faulty electronic components and circuits to locate defects and diagnose causes of malfunction.
  • Implement planned maintenance and upgrades as preventative measures.
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate RF transmission equipment per specifications and FCC regulations.
  • Maintain data integrity of mission critical audio storage and backups; ensure reliable operation of audio automation system.
  • Maintain internal tools and records of repairs, calibrations and tests.
  • Provide capital improvement recommendations to engineering management and transmitter site maintenance guidance.
  • May participate in after-hours production/deployment/releases; on-call 24/7 support.
