Job summary

Florida Department of Children and Families is seeking a Behavioral Health Consultant OPS to support regional operations in identifying and addressing behavioral health needs among families in the child welfare system. The role emphasizes collaboration with CPIs, dependency case managers, and community providers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a health or human services-related field is required.
• Three years of experience treating substance use disorders is required.
• Valid Class E Driver License is required.
• Preference for Florida license in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a registered intern.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise and assist with identifying parents with behavioral health conditions in the child welfare system, focusing on opioid use and substance misuse disorders.
• Consult with CPIs and dependency case managers to build front-line staff expertise in identifying behavioral health disorders and improve engagement with families.
• Educate CPIs and dependency case managers on identification of behavioral health disorders and use of MAT; provide office consultation during investigations.
• Partner with investigative staff to identify safety concerns, parental capabilities, and access to treatment and recovery supports.
• Maintain knowledge of community mental health and substance use providers; facilitate referrals and connections to services.
• Track referrals and entry into treatment for parents with behavioral health disorders; support investigators in crises.
• Participate in legal, multi-disciplinary meetings to support investigators and families.

Education

Master’s degree in a health or human services-related field

Three years of experience treating substance use disorders

Valid Class E Driver License
