Job summary

Huntington is seeking a Senior Regional Banking Portfolio Manager to oversee a high-value portfolio and advise bankers in Commercial and Regional Banking segments. The role focuses on maintaining credit quality, growing revenue, and mentoring junior staff.

You will collaborate with Relationship Managers to optimize client outcomes, assess risks, and provide strategic guidance across a diverse book of business exceeding $100M in aggregate with over 20 relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Formal credit training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages a portfolio of business customers in partnership with the relationship manager.
• Maintains high visibility in managing customer relationships with the account’s relationship manager.
• Service, deepen, and retain profitable customer relationships by evaluating and mitigating risks and opportunities.
• Optimize relationships with Relationship Managers to grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue.
• Owns primary responsibility for credit quality and monitoring of Commercial portfolio risks.
• Underwrites quality, manages portfolio administration, and maintains ongoing credit quality for the portfolio.
• Mentor/coach to junior portfolio managers, credit analysts, and relationship managers.
• Interact with senior leadership and clients on a professional consultative basis.

Description Summary:

The Regional Banking Portfolio Manager Sr. is considered a market and industry resource, providing expertise and advisory guidance in complex debt and capital solutions. This role will work with Bankers in both the Commercial and Regional Banking segments and be responsible for a book of business that is greater than $100,000,000 in aggregation and consists of over 20 relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manages a portfolio of business customers in partnership with the relationship manager.
• Will have highly visible role in managing the customer relationship along with the relationship manager assigned to the account.
• Service, deepen, and retain assigned profitable customer relationships by proactively evaluating and mitigating associated business risks and opportunities.
• Optimize customer relationships working directly with Relationship Managers to grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue.
• Own primary responsibility for the credit quality and monitoring of Commercial portfolio risks.
• Will be responsible for ongoing updating of risk grades in assigned portfolio.
• Responsible for underwriting quality, portfolio administration, and ongoing credit quality of assigned portfolio.
• Will work directly with the Team Leader, Relationship Managers, and Regional Credit Officers.
• Conduct portfolio reviews with senior management.
• Must function in the team environment, where the colleague may be assigned to work with teams outside of their direct reporting line.
• Participation in special projects is expected.
• Prioritize work to meet customer expectations.
• Analysis of existing portfolio to identify trends and opportunities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market/industry trends.
• Will serve as a mentor/coach to junior portfolio managers, credit analysts and relationship managers.
• Will have the ability to successfully interact with senior leadership and clients a professional consultative basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formal credit training.
• Proven and in-depth knowledge of credit products, risk assessment and debt structuring.
