Job summary

Southwest Minnesota State University is seeking a Regional Admissions Counselor to recruit prospective students in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area from an assigned market. The role requires extensive day-time travel within the territory and occasional campus trainings.

Residence in the Twin Cities area is preferred, with telework option available for certain activities. A bachelor’s degree and strong communication skills are required, along with a valid driver’s license.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Job Description

The primary purpose is to recruit prospective students through management of an assigned market recruitment area. Recruitment responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: high school visits, career fairs, community presentations, special events, and assisting in other outreach activities as assigned. The Regional Admissions Counselor will reside in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, with occasional travel to the campus for trainings and events as needed. Extensive day-time travel within the assigned territory is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional experience in a related field or two years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and/or professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior full-time or undergraduate work study experience in a university admissions office.
  • Prior experience working remotely
  • Familiar with Twin Cities Metro area, specifically the high schools and Community Based Organizations in that area.
  • Experience of working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, Slate, or other sales-related software.
  • Knowledge of higher education and experience working with prospective college students.
