Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop long-term relationships with physicians, extended prescribers, and other customers in the assigned territory.
  • Represent assigned brands and approved indications.
  • Provide disease and product education to external customers to help patients.
  • Achieve or exceed sales objectives while following ethics and compliant practices.
  • Create and execute strategic account-specific business plans aligned with brand plan and local market forces.
  • Collaborate with institutional teams and enterprise partners.
  • Answer questions and handle objections compliantly, triaging inquiries when needed.
  • Develop disease, clinical, and scientific knowledge to educate on diagnostic approaches.
  • Navigate hospital settings to access targeted healthcare professionals.
  • Lead patient-centric partnerships with physicians, clinics, and hospitals.
  • Execute local disease education and promotional programs for the therapeutic area.
  • Provide product expertise and customer service to targeted accounts.
  • Track activities and submit timely sales reports.
  • Manage territory budget and adhere to ethics and compliance.

Job description

  • Manage and develop long-term relationships with assigned physicians, extended prescribers, and other customers in the assigned territory
  • Represent assigned Alexion brands and their approved indications
  • Provide disease and product education to external customers, including physicians and nurses, to help patients
  • Achieve or exceed sales objectives in the assigned territory while following organizational ethics and compliant business practices
  • Create, maintain, and execute strategic account-specific business plans aligned with the brand plan and local market forces
  • Collaborate with Institutional Account Managers, TLLs, SALs, MSLs, FRMs, Market Access, Diagnostics, and other Enterprise partners
  • Handle customer questions and objections consistently with product indications and sales training methodology, compliantly triaging inquiries when needed
  • Develop and maintain in-depth disease, therapeutic, clinical, and scientific knowledge
  • Educate on disease diagnostic approaches to support effective patient diagnosis
  • Navigate complex academic and community hospital settings to access targeted healthcare professionals and stakeholders
  • Use marketing tools and resources, including PowerPoint presentations, throughout the selling process
  • Lead implementation of a patient-centric partnership model involving physicians, staff, clinics, and applicable hospitals
  • Execute local disease education and promotional programs for the therapeutic area
  • Provide product expertise and customer service to targeted accounts and stakeholders
  • Track activities and submit accurate, timely sales activity reports
  • Manage territory budget and adhere to Alexion’s code of ethics and compliance
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven documented track record of delivering consistent “Top-tier” sales results
  • 5 years of pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience, such as biotech or medical device
  • Neurology experience strongly preferred
  • Experience building relationships with physicians referring, diagnosing, and/or treating neuromuscular disorders
  • Experience building relationships with healthcare professionals administering infused therapies and/or apheresis for immunological disorders, where appropriate
  • Demonstrated success educating physicians about complex diseases and diverse patient disease profiles
  • Ability to build or strengthen lasting relationships with providers in physician practices and hospitals where access may be challenging
  • Ability to manage territory budget and adhere to Alexion code of ethics and compliance
  • Ability to travel regularly within the territory, including frequent overnight and weekend travel
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane
  • Ability to work comfortably in a clinical setting
  • Ability to use a computer and communicate via phone, video, and electronic messaging
  • Ability to problem solve and engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue
  • Ability to collaborate with others and maintain general availability during standard business hours
  • Master’s in Life Sciences or MBA a plus
  • Bio/pharma, Neurology, and/or Ophthalmology experience preferred
  • Experience navigating and working with large hospital systems, IDNs, and academic teaching hospitals preferred
