Job summary

PTC Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a field-based Pharmaceutical Sales professional to lead territory growth in neurology and rare disease spaces.

You will build strategic partnerships with physicians, hospitals and clinics, execute marketing and access strategies, and travel extensively to meet patients' needs. The role requires 5+ years in pharma sales, experience with rare diseases, and the ability to analyze complex data to inform account plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degrees in life sciences, business or healthcare preferred.
• Minimum 5 years pharmaceutical, biotech or healthcare sales experience.
• Minimum 3 years rare disease, orphan drug or highly specialized sales experience with a track record of exceeding targets.
• Previous selling experience in specialized clinics, hospitals, and academic centers; complete account selling.
• Ability to analyze complex technical data and develop strategic, actionable business plans.
• Strong planning, organization and time management; multitasking across projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to travel extensively; valid driver's license and own vehicle.

Job Description

• Achieve assigned sales targets in a compliant manner and contribute to the overall success of the metabolism business unit.
• Implement marketing strategies to meet sales and patient objectives for neurology and/or Fabry disease products on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
• Collaborate within a matrix environment, engaging with Patient Services, Patient Engagement, Marketing, Managed Markets and Medical Affairs.
• Develop business partnerships with targeted physicians and healthcare staff, understanding their needs and discussing how PTC products and resources meet these needs.
• Identify key treatment centers and facilities. Employ a consultative, solution-oriented sales approach tailored to healthcare professionals treating patients with neurological diseases and/or Fabry disease.
• Address and resolve product access and reimbursement issues.
• Performs additional tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Degrees in the areas of life sciences, business, or healthcare are preferred.
• Requires a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical, biotech or healthcare sales experience.
• Requires a minimum of 3 years of rare disease, orphan drug or highly specialized sales experience. Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and successfully growing and managing a territory in prior roles.
• Previous selling experience in specialized clinics, hospitals, and academic centers, including the ability to perform complete account selling.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical data and to develop strategic and actionable business plans.
• Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills, including supporting and prioritizing multiple projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territory (including nights and weekends as needed).
• This is a field-based position. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a personal automobile with an active vehicle insurance policy. Must be able to travel daily to/from customer accounts and drive long distances (distances will vary based upon the size of assigned territory).
• Daily entry to hospitals and other medical facilities is required. Many facilities have instituted vendor credentialing policies which require vendors to meet defined training, background check and proof of immunization requirements as a condition of entry. PTC employees entering these facilities are required to abide by these credentialing requirements.
• Experience supporting an orphan, rare disease, and/or specialized drug(s).
• Experience working in a small but fast-growing, entrepreneurial sales environment.
• Travel requirements : Field-based position. Travel-up to 75%.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary offered will be contingent on assessment of candidate education level, background, and experience relative to the requirements of the position they are being considered for, as well as review of internal equity.

In addition to base salary, PTC employees are also eligible for short- and long-term incentives.
