Job summary

Jobtailor, on behalf of Alexion, seeks a field-based pharmaceutical sales professional to build trusted relationships with healthcare professionals across the territory and to represent Alexion’s nephrology indications to clinicians.

You will create strategic account plans, maintain deep clinical knowledge of renal diseases, educate providers on testing and treatment pathways, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and travel regularly to meet customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience, or 5 years in a medical setting.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales results in hospitals and complex markets.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong clinical acumen and capability to educate on disease states.
  • Ability to develop access and build relationships with providers and staff.
  • Willingness to travel within territory; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead patient-centric partnerships with physicians, clinics, hospitals, and care partners.
  • Execute local promotional activities for nephrology areas.

Job description

  • Build trusted relationships with healthcare professionals across your territory
  • Represent Alexion’s nephrology indications, helping providers understand our therapies and how they support patients with rare nephrological conditions
  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales objectives in assigned territory
  • Create and maintain strategically targeted account-specific business plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales, diagnostic pathways, referral patterns, and treatment adoption
  • Develop and maintain strong, in-depth clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge across assigned indications, with emphasis on renal disease education and the needs of nephrology customers
  • Demonstrate the ability to educate on the clinical approach to relevant disease states, leading to successful differential diagnosis, appropriate testing, and timely treatment of focus patient populations
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders
  • Handle customer questions and objections in a way that is consistent with product indications and sales training methodology
  • Lead the implementation of a patient-centric partnership model that includes physicians, their staff, patients, clinics, hospitals, and relevant care partners
  • Execute local promotional activities and programs for the assigned therapeutic areas
  • Proactively interact with Alexion management to refine product and market initiatives based on field insights, access trends, and account needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device), or 5 years of experience in a medical setting
  • Proven, documented track record for delivering consistent, top-tier sales results in institutions, hospital systems, and/or complex specialty markets
  • Ability to work independently as well as interdependently in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong clinical acumen, account-based selling, analytical, and strategic skills to successfully develop accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to seek out and qualify leads, profile new accounts, and build durable relationships with relevant healthcare providers and office staff
  • Ability to gain consistent access and develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers in community and academic settings
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities
  • Must live in the geographic territory or live within 50 miles of the geographic territory border
  • Ability to travel within territory on a regular basis, which may include frequent overnight and weekend travel
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
