Thermo King of Houston is now hiring a Refrigeration Apprentice Technician at 772 McCarty Street, Houston, TX 77029. Apprentice refrigeration technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Thermo King reefer units, auxiliary power units (APUs), and heating units.

Responsibilities

1. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on trailer and truck equipment, Tripac, and Espar units.
2. Replace or reinstall fuel filters, batteries, alternators, water pumps, starters, fuel pumps, belts, and perform other maintenance tasks.
3. Install new units and equipment, including Espar and TracKing.
4. Solder parts and use the Asset Library portal for manuals, software, and guides.

Qualifications

Competencies:

• Basic mechanical skills, knowledge of 4-cycle engines, Ohm’s Law, and electrical systems preferred.
• Ability to use hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and read schematics.
• Must maintain Forklift Certification (training provided).
• Valid driver license and ability to operate motor vehicles.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of trade school or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have or acquire necessary tools and maintain forklift license.

Performance and Physical Demands:

• Work safely, maintain productivity and attendance, and perform oil changes efficiently.
• Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 65 lbs, bending, climbing, and working in various conditions.
• Work beyond regular hours as needed and operate service vehicles.
