Job summary

Smardt Inc. in Phoenix seeks an experienced HVAC Refrigeration Technician to perform chiller performance tests and related tasks. You will follow engineering test plans, record data, and report results.

You will troubleshoot performance issues, evacuate systems, transfer refrigerant, and implement repairs or upgrades per engineering specifications. Strong focus on safety, 6S, and accurate documentation is required.

Qualifications

• EPA 608 Type II license required.
• Apprentice refrigeration license required.
• Journeyman refrigeration license preferred.
• Experience with brazing and refrigerant handling.

Responsibilities

• Test chillers per engineering test plans and record data.
• Troubleshoot chiller performance (mechanical, electrical, controls).
• Evacuate chillers and troubleshoot leaks.
• Transfer refrigerant and document exchanges.
• Execute repairs and upgrades per specs.
• Support 6S and maintenance efforts.
• Perform other duties as required.

What We're Looking For:

An experienced HVAC Refrigeration Technician to execute chiller performance testing and tasks related thereto.

What You'll Do:

• Test chillers according to engineering test plans, record the data required, and report on test results.
• Troubleshoot chiller performance and operational issues (mechanical, electrical, controls, central plant)
• Evacuate chillers according to company standards and troubleshoot leaks.
• Refrigerant transfer to and from chillers, record exchanges for inventory control
• Execute repairs, modifications, and upgrades according to Engineering specifications
• Support 6S and department maintenance efforts
• Other duties and responsibilities as required

What You'll Bring:

• Refrigerant handling license: EPA 608, type II
• Apprentice refrigeration mechanic license
• Journeyman refrigeration mechanic license
• Previous brazing experience
