Job summary

Smardt in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced HVAC Refrigeration Technician to perform chiller performance testing, data recording, and report results. You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues and evacuate chillers per standards.

RefrigErant transfers and inventory logging are part of daily duties. Requires EPA 608 license and brazing experience; journeyman or apprentice licenses accepted.

Qualifications

• EPA 608 license required.
• Journeyman refrigeration license or equivalent required.
• Apprentice refrigeration license acceptable with brazing experience.
• Proficient brazing of copper joints and understanding of evacuation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Test chillers according to engineering plans, record data, and report results.
• Troubleshoot chiller performance and operational issues (mechanical, electrical, controls).
• Evacuate chillers according to standards and troubleshoot leaks.
• Perform refrigerant transfers and log exchanges for inventory control.
• Execute repairs, modifications, and upgrades per engineering specs.
• Support 6S and department maintenance efforts.
• Perform other duties as required.

What We're Looking For

An experienced HVAC Refrigeration Technician to execute chiller performance testing and tasks related thereto.

What You'll Do

• Test chillers according to engineering test plans, record the data required, and report on test results.
• Troubleshoot chiller performance and operational issues (mechanical, electrical, controls, central plant)
• Evacuate chillers according to company standards and troubleshoot leaks.
• Refrigerant transfer to and from chillers, record exchanges for inventory control
• Execute repairs, modifications, and upgrades according to Engineering specifications
• Support 6S and department maintenance efforts
• Other duties and responsibilities as required

What You'll Bring

• Refrigerant handling license: EPA 608, type II
• Apprentice refrigeration mechanic license
• Journeyman refrigeration mechanic license
• Previous brazing experience
