Job summary

Abstrakt Marketing Group is seeking a senior chiller mechanic in Houston to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and commission commercial and industrial chillers, including centrifugal, screw, and scroll machines. The role requires hands-on expertise and independence in critical environments.

The ideal candidate will lead complex service calls, mentor junior technicians, perform start-ups and tuning, analyze oil samples and control systems, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of commercial/industrial chiller experience.
• Strong working knowledge of refrigeration cycles, oil management systems, microprocessor controls, VFDs, and BAS systems.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and industrial settings.
• Be a current member of Pipe Fitters Local 211 or willing to become a member.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul, and maintain: air-cooled chillers, water-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, screw and scroll chillers.
• Perform start-ups and commissioning of new and existing equipment.
• Conduct major repairs including compressor rebuilds and tube bundle work.
• Troubleshoot advanced controls, VFDs, and BAS system integration.
• Analyze oil samples and refrigeration circuits.
• Perform vibration analysis and system performance diagnostics.
• Maintain detailed service documentation and reports.
• Provide technical guidance to junior mechanics and apprentices.
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, recommendations, and system performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Chiller Mechanic with 10+ years of hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and commissioning commercial and industrial chillers. This position requires deep technical expertise in centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to work independently in critical environments.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who can lead complex service calls, mentor junior technicians, and represent the company professionally with customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul, and maintain:
• Air-cooled chillers
• Water-cooled chillers
• Centrifugal chillers
• Screw and scroll chillers
• Perform start-ups and commissioning of new and existing equipment
• Conduct major repairs including compressor rebuilds and tube bundle work
