Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is hiring a Refrigeration Technician for our Tar Heel, NC facility.

You will be responsible for refrigeration and boiler maintenance, equipment repairs, and collaborating with a maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient operations. The role requires RETA certification or ability to obtain it, experience with ammonia refrigeration, and strong knowledge of electrical and boiler systems.

Qualifications

• RETA Certification is required or must be attainable.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of engine & boiler systems, electrical controls and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform refrigeration/boiler maintenance tasks and repairs.
• Assist maintenance team with planned and unplanned work.
• Conduct safety checks and comply with food safety practices.
• Work across shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
