Job summary

Refrigeration Design and Service, Inc. seeks a Start-up Technician to lead field commissioning for new systems.

You will collaborate with project management, develop best practices, and mentor apprentices while coordinating multi-site start-up efforts across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions. You will travel up to 90% of the time, leveraging advanced refrigerations expertise and OEM training to drive project milestones and deliver reliable commissioning services.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in a field service and project start-up role with industrial refrigeration customers.
• A technical education or commensurate experience in industrial/technical support of refrigeration equipment.
• Advanced RETA certification 1 through 4 and IR 1-19/ CR 1-20 modules.
• Advanced OEM training for equipment start-up and service.

Responsibilities

• Primary interface and liaison with the project management team for field commissioning related topics.
• Develop commissioning program best practices/templates and provide training/mentoring to apprentices within the department.
• Monitor dependencies across multiple inter-related projects and drive key milestones within Project Management and Service teams.
• Generate and report daily site reports and work order information to the project management and service operations team.
• Develop and distribute start-up reporting to leadership for scope/work reviews, costs analysis, and contract reviews.
• Provide full commissioning staffing for field service and technical support functions.
• Assist project management team members in achieving operational goals and objectives.
• Travel extensively (up to 90%) within the United States for extended periods.

Description

The Start-up Technician is the primary field service technician that is dedicated to new system start-up work. In their role they are a senior member of the service operations and new systems field team. This position will develop and implement the new systems commissioning activities. They will drive service department best practices and maximize the use of the service business tools (Field Software, ERP, etc.). The position reports to the Service Manager in the Fairless Hills Headquarters.

This position requires up to 100% travel. Individual should be based on the East Coast/Mid-Atlantic region.

The Start-up Technician is accountable for providing senior expertise, support, and management for the organization’s commissioning service processes including:

• Primary interface and liaison with the project management team for field commissioning related topics.

• Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by Kelvin employees, sub-contractors, customers, and all stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years' experience in a field service and project start-up role with industrial refrigeration customers.
• A technical education or commensurate experience in industrial/technical support of refrigeration equipment. Advanced education within the RETA certification 1 through 4 and IR 1-19/ CR 1-20 modules.
• Advanced OEM training for equipment start-up and service.
• Able to provide field support to a multi-location service and project team efficiently and accurately.
• Ability support and drive team site performance to maximize organization goals and project results.
• Experience driving process improvements within multi location and remote teams.
• Able to multi-task and work under pressure.
• Self-motivated and highly organized.
• Must be able to work independently and create start-up processes to drive meeting timelines.
• Openness to travel extensively (90%) within the United States for extended periods of time. Includes driving and flying with overnight hotel stays.
• Computer literacy including knowledge of Field Software, MS Office, and ability to quickly learn new software.
