Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is hiring for a Facilities caregiver on the Main Campus, working the 2nd shift (2:30pm–11:00pm). The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure safe, comfortable patient environments.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, an Ohio EPA refrigerant certificate, and 3+ years of experience as a commercial/residential HVAC technician; hospital experience is a plus. Strong reading of schematics is expected.

Qualifications

• Formal vocational study may substitute up to 1 year of experience.
• Ability to read electric schematic diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls, microprocessors and system alarms.
• Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate and adjust refrigerant charges.

A caregiver in this position works 2nd shift, 2:30pm—11:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Regularly inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and other equipment, such as refrigerators, freezers, walk‑in coolers, medical and process chillers, cooling equipment, cryogenic freezers and rooftop heating/cooling units.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls, solid state microprocessors and system alarms.
• Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate and adjust refrigerant charges.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High school diploma or GED
• State of Ohio EPA approved certificate for either Type I and Type II or Universal Refrigerant Systems Service
• Three years of experience as a commercial/residential air conditioning refrigeration technician. Military experience as a Machinists Mate, Utilities man, Utilities Equipment Repairer or a similar role will be considered
• Formal vocational classroom study in refrigeration, air conditioning and/or air handling may substitute up to 1 year of experience
• Can read electric schematic diagrams

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of a formal HVAC/Refrigeration training program
• Work experience in a hospital setting

Personal Protective Equipment:

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $27.65

Maximum hourly: $42.17
