Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s South Pointe Hospital is seeking an HVAC/refrigeration technician to inspect, diagnose and maintain cooling systems, walk-ins, and related equipment. You will troubleshoot electrical controls, repair leaks, and ensure safe operation in a hospital setting.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and Ohio EPA refrigerant certificates; three years of field experience; reading electrical schematics; and preferred HVAC training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• State of Ohio EPA approved certificate for Type I AND Type II OR Universal Refrigerant Systems Service.
• Three years of experience as a commercial/residential air conditioning refrigeration technician.
• Substitution: formal vocational study may substitute up to one year of experience.
• Ability to read electric schematic diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls, solid state microprocessors and system alarms.
• Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate and adjust refrigerant charges.

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:30AM – 3:00PM or 7:00AM – 3:30PM, with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Regularly inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and other equipment, such as refrigerators, freezers, walk-in coolers, medical and process chillers, cooling equipment, cryogenic freezers and rooftop heating/cooling units.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls, solid state microprocessors and system alarms.
• Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate and adjust refrigerant charges.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• State of Ohio EPA approved certificate for either Type I AND Type II OR Universal Refrigerant Systems Service
• Three years of experience as a commercial/residential air conditioning refrigeration technician. Military experience as a Machinists Mate, Utilities man, Utilities Equipment Repairer or a similar role will be considered
• Formal vocational classroom study in refrigeration, air conditioning and/or air handling may substitute up to one year of experience
• Ability to read electric schematic diagrams

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of a formal HVAC/Refrigeration training program
• Work experience in a hospital setting

Personal Protective Equipment

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $27.65

Maximum hourly: $42.17
