Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking an experienced technician to document and install control system hardware, cabling, and conduit for refrigeration and energy management upgrades in supermarkets and foodservice locations.

The role involves installing and maintaining Energy Management Systems, reading control diagrams and blueprints, and using standard tools and meters. Occasional travel up to 75% is required, and a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Three (3) + years of experience working with electrical systems with focus in commercial construction work.
• Valid State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Document and install control system hardware, cabling, and conduit for refrigeration and energy management upgrades.
• Install and maintain Energy Management Systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and foodservice establishments.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain systems that use control voltage signals and high-voltage power components.
• Read and interpret control and ladder logic diagrams.
• Read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and instruments such as voltmeter, multimeter, amprobe, manometer, RPM speed indicator.
• Execute plans of control wiring and other electrical systems.
• Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems.
• Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, circuit-breaker panels).
• Connect wiring in circuits and networks, ensuring component compatibility.
• Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.
• Inspect and replace old wiring and insulated cables to prevent breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
• Willingness and ability to travel 25% - 75% of the time.

What the Role Involves

• Responsible for documenting and installing control system hardware, cabling, and conduit necessary to facilitate refrigeration and building energy management conversions and upgrades.


• Performing duties as a technician for the purpose of installation and maintenance of Energy Management Systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and foodservice establishments.


• Engage in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of systems that utilize control voltage signals and high‑voltage power components.


• Read and interpret control and ladder logic type diagrams.


• Must know how to read blueprints and schematic diagrams.


• Uses standard hand tools, power tools, as well as specific instruments and specialty tools such as: voltmeter, multi‑meter, amprobe, manometer, RPM speed indicator.


• Execute plans of control wiring and other electrical systems.


• Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems.


• Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit‑breaker panels etc.).


• Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks, ensuring compatibility of components.


• Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.


• Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.


• Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged unit.


• Willingness and ability to travel 25% - 75% of the time.


• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.


• Three (3) + years of experience working with electrical systems with focus in commercial construction work.


• Valid State Driver’s License.
