Basic Job Functions:

This role will perform duties related to the ladle wall daily. The position requires understanding the components and workings of the ladle gates. Responsibilities include performing bricking stand duties, tundish yard duties, and material handling duties if needed. The candidate must be able to read refractory wear on brick plates, brick wear on ladles, and plug wear, as well as replace stir plugs. Managing and rebuilding ladle slide gates, operating the ladle laser scan system, performing refractory bricking and installation, pouring castable products, operating a castable mixer, and daily operation of the track grant are also required. Additionally, the role involves operating the EAF rooftop.

Safety is the highest priority at Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
• Minimum 6 months of refractory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of refractories in steelmaking.
• Understanding of refractory wear characteristics in ladles.
• Knowledge of porous plugs.
• Experience with hand torches / oxygen lances.
• Mobile equipment operation experience.
• Basic computer skills.
