Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Durant, OK is seeking hardworking team members to support production across our fabrication and manufacturing facilities. You will perform routine maintenance, monitor operations, and help maintain safety and efficiency on the shop floor with a strong emphasis on teamwork and quality workmanship.

You will work with a crew to address production issues, cut bricks to size, and follow start-up/shutdown procedures while complying with PPE rules and safe operating

• Basic computer skills for monitoring and documentation.
• Dependability in attendance and ability to meet business needs.
• Ability to learn quickly and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work overtime as required.
• Team player with strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Communicate about production issues and needs.
• Perform minor routine maintenance or repairs.
• Maintain daily housekeeping and safe work area.
• Troubleshoot problems using knowledge and coordination with others.
• Understand start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE properly.
• Repair or replace fire brick lining and related components.
• Cut bricks to size and create tap holes as needed.
• Lay bricks to build walls, arches, and other structures.

What You'll Do

• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
• Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe andtimelymanner
• Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
• Repair or replace fire brick lining of ladles, furnace tap holes, and spout
• Cut bricks to size, as required and cut notches or holds to provide for smoke control tap holes, tap mountings, heating elements, etc
• Use chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, levels, etc to lay brick courses for building walls or bulkheads, arches, corners, roofs, electrode and smoke control pressure tap holes

• Ability to work in environments with exposure to temperature extremes, chemicals, dust, fumes, mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
