Job summary

CMC is offering a hands-on position in its production environment where you will be involved in daily communications about production issues and needs, perform routine maintenance, and keep a clean work area. You will also troubleshoot problems, follow start-up and shutdown procedures, and adhere to safety guidelines.

  • Basic computer skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Quick learner with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required, including planned and unplanned situations.
  • Strong teamwork and communication to support operations.
  • Ability to work in environments with temperature extremes, chemicals, dust, and loud noise.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do
  • Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
  • Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
  • Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
  • Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe andtimelymanner
  • Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
  • Repair or replace fire brick lining of ladles, furnace tap holes, and spout
  • Cut bricks to size, as required and cut notches or holds to provide for smoke control tap holes, tap mountings, heating elements, etc
  • Use chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, levels, etc to lay brick courses for building walls or bulkheads, arches, corners, roofs, electrode and smoke control pressure tap holes

  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to temperature extremes, chemicals, dust, fumes, mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
