Job summary

Pyrotek, a global leader in high temperature materials, seeks a Large Shapes Specialist in our Mining and Metals facility. The role focuses on pouring and regulating refractory into molds, preparing, mixing, casting, firing, and finishing to meet on-time delivery and quality goals.

The position requires reading drawings, following work orders, and operating safety equipment. Expect a physically active, team-oriented environment with standard day shifts (Mon-Fri, 6:00am-2:30pm).

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED/TASC or equivalent.
• At least 1 year experience in mixing, casting, firing, and finishing refractory shapes.
• Ability to read work orders and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Determine required raw materials, supplies, tools and equipment to create refractory shapes.
• Examine and measure molds to verify quality and dimensional accuracy per drawings; rework out-of-tolerance molds.
• Assess raw material quality and ensure molds are clean, smooth, and properly coated.
• Measure amounts, temperatures, and characteristics of ingredients and mix per prescribed recipe to ensure uniformity.
• Cast refractory using casting equipment, including vibrators and mounting apparatus.
• Perform QC procedures (grinding and finishing) to meet defined quality criteria.
• Inspect shape quality for strength, surface, and dimensional accuracy.
• Safely operate cranes, forklifts, overhead crane, and pallet jack.
